Start-up Junkie Launches Fuel For Your Health Accelerator Program

The Startup Junkie Foundation's Fuel Accelerator is expanding its scope to focus on health-related innovations and technologies with its new cohort, Fuel For Your Health.

  • Accelerated success: The program provides startups access to founders, mentorship, and education, and has received support from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, as well as the Walton Family Foundation.
  • International innovation: This cohort brings together a diverse range of solutions from seven countries around the world to Northwest Arkansas, from AI platforms detecting diabetes to improving the quality of life for elders.

  • Farm to table: Down south in Fayetteville, the Farmers Market officially kicks off on Saturday marking its 50th anniversary season.

Climbing Access Coming to Fitzgerald Mountain with ARCC, NWA Trailblazers and the Access Fund

Northwest Arkansas is getting a new rock climbing area this Spring, opened in partnership by the Arkansas Climbers Coalition, Northwest Arkansas Trailblazers, and the Access Fund.

  • Enter Fitzgerald Mountain: The area will be on property owned by the NWA Trailblazers near Fitzgerald Mountain in Springdale and includes bouldering and climbing access.
  • Smart infrastructure: This work is designed to set climbing areas up for long-term sustainable access that protects the environment and includes stone staircases, retaining walls, durable trails, and appropriate drainage.

Groundbreaking for Alice L. Walton School of Medicine in Bentonville

Walmart heir and philanthropist Alice Walton celebrated with local providers, construction crews, and stakeholders at the groundbreaking for the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM) in Bentonville.

  • Mission-driven: AWSOM will offer a 4-year medical degree focusing on the humanities, arts and health and wellness, in order to provide better health outcomes and quality care.
  • What's in a name?: Walton may not have been a fan of the name for the school, but she does love the acronym "AWSOM".
