Arkansas Filmmakers To Screen Feb. 25 At The Walton Arts Center

The 2022 Fayetteville Film Fest (FFF) is rolling and has quite a bit more to offer as the Festival continues.

  • Local stories: This Friday, Feb. 25, will mark the 2nd part of 4 weekends for the film festival, and the theme is Arkansas Filmmakers. The screening will be at 7p and will feature narrative and documentary films, showcasing the filmmaking talent across Arkansas. 
  • Watch: The titles of the 5 films for Friday’s screening along with their directors and a plot snippet have been released on the WAC’s website. The films all explore themes of disconnection and grief as well as renewed connection and healing. The next screenings of the FFF will be on March 12 and May 26

  • Much to do: PCF is hosting 4 different opportunities for all ages over the week of March 21. There will be Coler Kids Spring Break Camp, Peel Museum Spring Break Camp, The Quiver Spring Break Camp, and Osage Park Free Wetland Tours throughout the week.
  • Never bored: With each event, there is opportunity for education and fun! Learn about wetlands, Arkansas's history, gardens, bikes, crafts, shoot bows and arrows, play games and more.

Startup Crawl To Return After 2-Year Hiatus

On April 8, Arkansas’s biggest startup party is returning to Fayetteville and bringing together some of NWA’s most innovative.

  • Back again: After a 2-year hiatus, the Northwest Arkansas Startup Crawl by Startup Junkie is happening on April 8. It will start on Fayetteville’s downtown square and make stops on the way to the Pryor Center where dozens of Arkansas startups will be set up.
  • Brews and tunes: Attendees will experience live musical performances, local breweries, and multiple beer gardens in addition to the meet and greet with the region’s most exciting startup founders.

On-Demand Public Transportation Arriving To Bentonville, Fayetteville

Ozark Regional Transit Authority

Starting tomorrow, Feb. 22, public transit with Ozark Regional Transit Authority (ORT) will establish an on-demand service in Bentonville and Fayetteville. 

  • Free and easy: Described as the Uber of public transit, ORT has developed an on-demand transit model where passengers can schedule rides using the smartphone app ORT On Demand. The app allows riders to move a cursor to a preferred pick-up destination and see a live arrival time for their ORT vehicle. 
  • Changes: Tomorrow in Bentonville, all traditional fixed routes will transition to on-demand. In Fayetteville, the new service will eliminate 1 traditional fixed route, and 2 will continue to operate alongside on-demand transit. The 3 fixed routes in Springdale will go unchanged.

Bentonville Chamber Partners With Cloud Company For Remote Worker Program

For those of you who have decided to work with the utmost autonomy this next piece of news is for you as there’s a new remote working program in Bentonville.

  • Cloud tech: Through its Rural Empowerment Program, Pax8 is hiring remote workers in the Northwest Arkansas Region. The company is connecting rural communities with tech careers, focusing on small to mid-sized businesses, and cloud serviced based technology.
  • New gig: Pax8 has been on Inc. magazine’s annual list of the 5,000 fastest-growing companies 4 years in a row and is currently offering jobs with a range from $50k to over $160k per year. Positions range from entry to senior-level roles.
