Fare Flight NWA Offers Tips For Affordable Summer Travel

NWA Daily

The staff at Northwest Arkansas National Airport is taking steps to increase the chances of finding an affordable fare to leisure destinations in the next few months despite inflation and rising prices.

  • 64 days: According to Travel + Leisure, the suggested time to book a domestic trip is 64 days before departure. That means, if you book flights this weekend, you’ll probably find the best deals on about July 15 give or take a few days.
  • Other tips for affordable summer travel: 1) Travel on the holiday. July 4 is one of the more inexpensive days to travel. 2) Be flexible. The best deals on the low-cost carriers at XNA fly out during the week. XNA travelers last year saved around $8.1M in total when flying to these 10 cities.

City-Wide Bike-Drive Begins Today In Springdale

NWA Daily

Springdale’s first-ever city-wide bike drive starts today to help support Pedal It Forward and its mission to provide everyone in NWA access to a bicycle.

  • Donate: Donated new and used bicycles of any size are being collected at Buffalo Builders office today and tomorrow (May 12 & 13), and at the Springdale Phat Tire Shop location on Saturday, May 14. Donated bikes can be dirty, have flat tires, or broken, but avoid giving bikes that are too damaged to repair.
  • To race: Bikes raised at the drive will support 60 underserved children participating in the Natural State Criterium Race series this summer. 20 bikes will be given away at each of the races in June, July, and August.

Fayetteville Gets Its First Art Supply Store

Deena Arts

Fayetteville’s first art supply store officially opened its doors late last month, making art and art supplies accessible to people of all artistic exposures and ages.

  • Artists' tools: The store is called Sleet City and was created after the owner, a muralist in NWA, realized she had to leave the region to get her own work supplies. Now, Sleet City is working to have supplies and material for all artist’s needs.
  • In stock: The store has art kits available intended to make art approachable for those who wouldn’t officially consider themselves creatives, and a lot of garden items and seed packets because of the overlap between traditional artist and people who get their hands dirty in the garden.
