The Momentary

New, free-to-view exhibitions are installed at the Momentary offering new ways of experiencing art and nature. 

  • On display: A Divided Landscape is a group exhibition featuring a selection of historic works from Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Esteban Cabeza de Baca: Let Earth Breathe and Rashawn Griffin: we no longer recognize the backs of our hands are both solo exhibitions on display.
  • Immerse yourself: The exhibitions are presented in both English and Spanish and will be on view through September 25. You can learn about ideas of wilderness and indignity, see the deconstruction of colonial narratives expressed in art, and immerse yourself in a room painted but not painted…

Hawk Moth Opens New Beer Bar In Bentonville

Have you heard? There’s a new beer bar in Bentonville!

  • Sit and sip: Hawk Moth Brewing has opened a new location called The Beacon Beer Bar — The Beacon for short. It’s located at 410 SW A St in Bentonville in the old Bike Rack Brewing spot in-between Peddler’s Pub and The HUB. 
  • From the tap: The Beacon is open just in time for your evening patio parties right down the road from the Bentonville Square. Hawk Moth is a brewery out of Rogers that makes craft old-world beer style with a modern American twist.

Expansions Plans Revealed For Bentonville Public Library

Official plans for the Bentonville Public Library's expansion were presented yesterday to community members and stakeholders. Particular details to the plans are sure to be refined during design development, but the Library’s values and proposed amenities will remain the same.

  • Enhancing experience: The plans show the library will be expanded ~22,795 sq. ft, the current interior will undergo renovations and modifications, and the estimated budget is ~$16.75M. The Library is located at 405 S Main St and the expansion will be on the north side of the building. 
  • Improvements: The proposed design features include, but not limited to the expansion of the children’s department, new study and collaboration spaces, and connections to nature through outdoor spaces.

Walmart Releases Q1 FY23 Earnings

Walmart recently released its earnings for Q1 of the fiscal year 2023 which revealed much amidst a season of inflation and higher supply chain costs. 

  • Factors: The influx in costs coupled with higher-than-expected inventory and a rise in wage costs sent Walmart’s Q1 net income to 74-cents per share, down a 56-cent adjustment from investments and divestitures losses. 
  • Unusual environment: On May 17, the retailer’s stock saw the worst single-session performance since 1987, falling by over 11%. However, Q1 sales remained strong despite missing expectations. Walmart U.S. had $96.9 billion in sales, up 4% from a year ago.
