Groundwaves Concludes 2022 Series In Springdale

NWA Daily

Groundwaves, sponsored by CACHE, gathers local hip-hop artists around an open mic to share their work and receive real-time feedback from legendary west-coast rapper Murs

  • Reflections: Murs sat down with KUAF's Jasper Logan to reflect on the series and discuss the importance of established artists investing in and supporting younger generations of artists.
  • Looking forward: CACHE is excited to continue working with Murs and NW Arkansas’s hip-hop community to keep growing the program in 2023.

The NWA Council Delivers 2022 State Of The Region Report

NWA Daily

Yesterday, the Center for Business and Economic Research and the NWA Council released their annual State of the Region report.

  • Looking good: Compared to peer metros, NWA had one of the lowest unemployment rates, has seen tremendous population growth, and its citizens enjoy some of the shortest commute times.
  • Looking ahead: NWA remains ranked low in other metrics such as average annual wages, percentage of adults without bachelor’s degrees, and low spending on research and development. All of which are metrics the NWA Council is seeking to address, particularly in the area of affordable housing and the establishment of more walkable communities.

America’s Most Haunted Hotel

Crescent Hotel & Spa

What better way to celebrate Halloween than to explore one of the area’s most infamously haunted places, The Crescent Hotel, built in 1886.

  • A full moon: Eureka Springs’ Crescent Hotel has been called America’s most haunted hotel. For years, folks have reported ghost sightings, and in 2019 glass jars with human specimens inside were found buried on the property.
  • Malpractice: The jars and other artifacts like a bone-saw were attributed to Norman Baker, a con-artist playing doctor, who used the hotel as a cancer hospital in the 1930’s and the basement as his morgue.
