New Playground And Splash Pad Planned For Fayetteville's Gulley Park

After pandemic delays, plans from 2020 to update Gulley Park with an activity hub, including an expanded playground, splash pad, and pavilion, are finally moving forward.

  • Fun times: The playground expansion will center around a "mega tower" with a winding enclosed slide and will sit just south of a splash pad with an enlarged pavilion between where parents can watch kids in either direction.
  • Gulley's glow-up: Further phases of the park's development include a dog park, tennis and pickleball courts, a sand volleyball pit, and a renovated stage area for concerts.

U of A Capital Scan Reveals Funding Trends In Arkansas

The University of Arkansas's 2021 Arkansas Capital Scan analyzes data about how Arkansas-based companies gather funding to identify gaps and opportunities to better support the diverse founders who decide to grow their businesses in Arkansas.

  • Good outlook: Bentonville-based LIVSN Designs achieved the largest crowdfunding raise in Arkansas and accounted for 34.9% of the state's 2021 crowdfunding total. Further, NWA has become a hotspot for the state's fast-growing venture capital funding activity, accounting for 75.5%.
  • Opportunities: The report revealed disparities. For instance, Black women outpace other demographics in business creation yet disproportionately see fewer funding opportunities. While angel and seed funding deals rose from five to 14 for women of color in Arkansas, the report reveals areas for continued growth in investing in diverse entrepreneurs.
