NWA Gives Offers Free Training To Help NWA Nonprofits Maximize Impact

With a vision to see Northwest Arkansas become one of the most generous communities on earth, NWA Gives is hosting free training to prepare nonprofits to make the most of the upcoming NWA Gives Day on Apr 6.

  • Five years strong: Since 2018, NWA Gives has helped 300 participating nonprofits raise almost $3m, enabling them to accomplish their unique missions to serve our region.
  • Training day: Register now to attend a free one-day Intensive training on Feb 21 at Thaden Field, where you can learn from the experts at Branches Mission Lab on how to effectively market, communicate and fundraise for your nonprofit.

Experience the Vibrant Culture of Black-Owned Businesses in NWA

A vibrant display of Northwest Arkansas's businesses, food, and music will be on display this weekend during the Black-Owned Business Expo on Saturday, Feb 25, at the Fayetteville Town Center from 10-4p.

  • Face to face: The expo invites the public to interact with the businesses often featured by Black-Owned NWA, a social media company dedicated to spotlighting Black-owned businesses in NWA and the people behind them.
  • Open to the public: Admission to the expo is free, so whether you're a business owner or just a fan of goods and services, be sure to stop by, join the fun, and support local Black-owned businesses.

Forbes Ranks Arvest Bank Among America's Best Employers

Northwest Arkansas's Arvest Bank is among the 1,000 companies in the Forbes 2023 list of America's Best Large Employers.  

  • Word of mouth: The independent survey gathered responses from 45,000 American employees working within large companies, gauging their willingness to recommend their employer to friends and family.  
  • Winning streak: This is the second year in a row Arvest has been named to Forbes' list, as well as previous recognitions by Forbes, including the Best Employer for Diversity list in 2022 and World's Best Banks in 2022.

Kian Lam Kho Shares The Code To Delicious Chinese Cooking at Meiji

Chef Kian Lam Kho, the author of Phoenix Claws and Jade Trees, will be a guest chef at Meiji Japanese Cuisine until Feb 25 as part of Fayetteville Restaurant Week.

  • From software to food: Growing up in Singapore, Chef Kian began his career as an aerospace engineer and software developer for Wall Street before eventually transitioning to pursue food and writing. 
  • Programming flavor: Like coding a computer program, Chef Kian enjoys experimenting with recipes and ingredients to deliver a unique dish, taking liberties to make them his own while preserving the different cultures behind them.
