Duwendé To Kick Off VoiceJam Festival At Walton Arts Center

Six a cappella groups from across the US will compete at Walton Arts Center on Apr 15 for the title of VoiceJam Champion.

  • Perfect pitch: The finalists VIBE, Walk the Line, Trillium, A-Side, Mind The Gap, and Euphoria will perform on Apr 15 for an expert panel of judges who will score them on vocal percussion, arrangement, soloists, and choreography.
  • Funkytown: The night before the competition, Apr 14, the a capella sensation Duwendé will kick off the VoiceJam Festival with their classic bass-and-beatbox-driven funk/pop style.

Chuy's Fayetteville Hosts Grand Opening Today

  • New hot spot: Chuy’s Fayetteville is located at 642 E. Millsap Rd and will be open seven days a week from 11a to 9p, Sunday through Thursday, and until 10p on Fridays and Saturdays.
  • The king: The eclectic Tex-Mex destination specializes in one-of-a-kind dishes made with hand-rolled tortillas. Check out the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom enchiladas or the Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken… and good luck not overdoing it on the creamy jalapeño dip.

Arkansas Track Teams Sweep SEC Indoor Championship

Arkansas Track & Field showed off its speed over the weekend during the SEC Indoor Championship, with both men’s and women’s teams taking home the titles — the 10th time Arkansas has swept team titles at the SEC Indoor Championships. 

  • Gals: The No. 2 women’s team attained its 9th consecutive title, punctuating Lance Harter’s final year as head coach with victory and pushing Arkansas ahead of LSU for the most SEC Indoor titles at 13. 
  • Guys: The top-ranked men’s team secured its 4th consecutive SEC Indoor title, asserting the program’s dominance in the sport with 26 wins out of the meet’s 32 occurrences.

Fayetteville Earns “Tree City USA” Designation For 28th Year

The Arbor Day Foundation has named Fayetteville a Tree City USA for the 28th year in a row, recognizing the city's commitment to urban forest management. 

  • Tree-mendous work: The tall requirements for the award include having a tree board, a tree care ordinance, a minimum annual forestry budget of $2 per capita, and holding an annual Arbor Day observance, which Fayetteville celebrates each October by giving away thousands of trees. 
  • Counting the rings: Fayetteville isn't the only Northwest Arkansas city with a green thumb. Eureka Springs has earned the Tree City USA for an impressive 40 years running.
