Redevelopment Starts With Hi-Way Inn Motel In Fayetteville

Google

Redevelopment of the former Hi-Way Inn on North College Ave. in Fayetteville is underway.

  • Demo: The old motel’s 0.6-acre site was formerly used by the Fayetteville Housing Authority for public housing. After the most recent rezoning, the site is now an urban thoroughfare district, which widens the range of possible residential and commercial uses.
  • Steps: The redevelopment of Hi-Way Inn is only the beginning stage of the 71B Corridor plan, which includes more residential areas along College Ave. and improved “safety, convenience, and economic vitality of the road.”

Architecture Exhibit On Orchard Trail Redefines Home

Crystal Bridges

The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art has an exhibit called Architecture at Home that brought together five architecture firms to design and fabricate 500 sq. ft prototypes for the exhibition.

  • Building home: The exhibition is along the Orchard Trail on the museum’s grounds and is intended to help “us better understand how architecture affects our lives, determine what makes a house a home, and celebrate the artistry in building and shelter.”
  • Dream shapes: There are five structures anchored by Buckminster Fuller’s Fly’s Eye Dome (pictured above) that articulate possible ways to live. Visitors are invited to enter and explore the immersive prototypes and experimental homes and see different realities.
