NWA Horses Play Unique Role In Healing and Therapy

Horses are incredible creatures and can often play a significant role in emotional and physical healing through different kinds of therapy. 

  • Mental health: Corral Coaching and Counseling of Bentonville offers equine-assisted psychotherapy, and has proudly served the veterans community of NWA. 
  • Physical therapy: Engaging in hippotherapy, the use of horses in physical therapy, Healing by Horseback of Lincoln, serves individuals in speech, physical, and occupational therapy.

Downtown Rogers Celebrates Veterans In November’s Art On The Bricks

Tonight from 4:30-7:30p, Downtown Rogers' Art on the Bricks will feature live music, artist demonstrations, and art exhibits commemorating the service and talent of military veterans in preparation for Veterans Day.

  • Art connects: Downtown Rogers’ monthly Art on the Bricks brings people to the city’s historical center to showcase NWA’s artists, craftsmen, and musicians with pop-up events, gallery exhibits, and live music. 
  • Art heals: November’s Art On The Bricks is in partnership with the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks and will celebrate our veterans while highlighting the power art can play as a form of therapy and a means of connection.

Coler Mountain Bike Preserve Celebrates Grand Opening Of The Rise

All are welcome to join Coler Mountain Bike Preserve on Friday, Nov 18 as they celebrate the grand opening of The Rise, a 185-step steel and cedar staircase inspired by workout stairs in Santa Monica. 

  • Rise and shine: The day will begin at 7a with an address by Debra Layton, Executive Director of Peel Compton Foundation, followed by an inaugural ascent of the stairs by local running groups and Airship Cafe serving up specialty drinks. Later, join Sunny Days for a celebration at 4p including a DJ set and specialty mocktails. 
  • Getting there: The Rise can be accessed from the North lot at 11840-11850 Peach Orchard Rd in Bentonville, or from any parking lot via the Applegate Trail between SW 8th St and NW 3rd St.

Dynamic Discs Hosts PDGA Northwest Arkansas Open

Dynamic Discs NWA presents the 2022 Northwest Arkansas Open this weekend, Nov 11-13. 

  • Bring in the pros: The PDGA-sanctioned singles tournament will bring pros from across the nation to NWA with the A-pool playing at Springdale’s J.Beast course and Farmington’s Creekside
  • To the pin: The tournament will take players all around Northwest Arkansas’s great disc golf scene and Pinpoint in Fayetteville will host a players’ party on Saturday night from 6-11p.

University Of Arkansas School Of Art Receives 360 Artist Awards

University of Arkansas faculty and students were recognized in the Mid-America Arts Alliance’s 2022 Artists 360 Awards

  • Keep creating: Artist 360 provides grant funding and professional development opportunities for artists of all disciplines to advance their research and practice. 
  • Well done: Faculty members received awards including David Andree and Rana Young, and student recipients included Trent Bozeman, Sky Maggiore, Chung Park, and Maximiliano Oliver Calabotta.
