NWA Food Bank Receives $3.5m Grant

Northwest Arkansas Food Bank

The Alice L. Walton Foundation has granted $3.5m to the NWA Food Bank, ensuring greater access to healthy foods for those facing hunger across our cities. 

  • Capital campaign: The Alice L. Walton Foundation will match donations up to $3m for the 'Food for Today. Hope for Tomorrow' campaign, which will provide a new distribution and operations center in Lowell. 
  • Foods to encourage: The remaining $500,000 of the grant will go towards a two year initiative to promote food choices that lead to healthier lifestyles.

Fayetteville Receives New E-Bikes For Micromobility Program

Spin delivered a new fleet of 100 e-bikes to Fayetteville, adding electric bicycles back into the city’s micromobility program. 

  • New bikes: Veo recently pulled their e-bikes from Fayetteville due to maintenance issues and minimal usage compared to e-scooters; Spin feels confident about their S-300 model taking over the e-bike market.
  • Micromobility: Fayetteville’s e-scooter program, including Veo and Spin, has a combined fleet of 1,000 scooters for rent that can be used over a 20 sq. mile service area.

  • Psycho for cyclo-cross: The OZCX cycle-cross festival begins today at Centennial Park in Fayetteville and will conclude with the 2022 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup on Sunday. 
  • Hydrate for life: Run or cycle in the Race to Hydrate 5k, 13k, and youth runs on Saturday morning at the Pinnacle Hills Promenade.
  • You’re killing me, smalls: Roast s’mores and enjoy live music during the Ozarktober Fall Bonfire at Shiloh Square in Downtown Springdale tonight from 6-9p. 
  • Pink as a pig: Get a look at the Razorback Men’s Basketball Team during the Red-White Game on Sunday, Oct 16 at 2p. Attendees can claim free tickets to the Oct 24 exhibition game.
  • Raise a stein: Celebrate Oktoberfest in Downtown Rogers at the craft beer festival on Saturday from 2-6p.
