Where Can You Get a Vaccine?

Now that everyone in Arkansas is eligible for the vaccine, the next question is when and where can I get one? On Tuesday, the NWA Council announced plans to host weekly vaccination clinics in Benton and Washington Counties, through April 16.

  • The first Washington County clinic was held yesterday at at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The next mass vaccination will be in Fayetteville on April 7 at the Northwest Arkansas Mall.

  • The Benton County clinic this week is today from 8am to 4pm J.B. Hunt Corporate Headquarters in Lowell, Building C. Register HERE.

  • The Pfizer vaccine will be given at all NWA Council clinics. Second doses will be available at the same location three weeks after the first dose.
    Walk-ins will also be accepted, subject to availability.

Springdale's Teslar Named One of the "Best Fintechs to Work For"

A Springdale-based fintech company has been named to the American Banker’s list of the ‘Best Fintechs to Work For’ in 2021. This is the first time any Arkansas based company has been recognized.

  • Springdale-based Teslar Software, which provides portfolio management tools for community banks, earned the no. 21 spot on American Banker’s list. Little Rock-based Smiley Technologies was named the second-best fintech to work for in the United States.

  • Last fall, Teslar partnered with 50 small regional banks to help process PPP loans and manage the debt forgiveness process. Ultimately, assisting with putting money back into the community and keeping the lights on for small businesses.

Hot Air Balloons on the Horizon

Open Avenues, SOAR NWA

Yet another exciting event is on the horizon for Fayetteville - Open Avenues has announced plans to host the 2021 SOAR NWA hot air balloon festival on Saturday, Aug. 28 at Drake Field.

  • “We are so excited to be able to bring this exciting and unique event back to Northwest Arkansas,” said Kelly Sampson, Development Director at Open Avenues. “We had to cancel last year due to COVID, but as things are turning around we’re beginning to plan for an incredible return in 2021.” -Fayetteville Flyer

  • The event will feature hot air ballon activities (weather permitting), aeronautic events, circus performers, a kid zone, car exhibit, live entertainment, beer garden, food trucks, a “balloon glow,” and more.

  • Proceeds will benefit Open Avenues, a local nonprofit that provides employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for kids 10 and under. Rides and some activities at the event will be available for purchase.

New Public Art Installation Coming Soon to Downtown Bentonville

OZ Art NWA and Justkids are teaming up to to bring California artist Ouizi to Bentonville for the design and installation of a new public mural.

  • Ouizi began work on the mural early this week. The public art piece will be located in downtown Bentonville on the corner of Main and 2nd Streets and will take about two weeks to complete.

  • “I am delighted and humbled to return to Bentonville to paint a new mural in the town square,” Ouizi said. “When I was last here painting inside Crystal Bridges, it was Summer, so I look forward to seeing the city in the Spring!” -5 News

  • Louise Jones (née Chen), aka Ouizi, was born and raised in Santa Monica, CA to Shanghainese parents. She is best known for her large scale floral mural installations which can be seen in public spaces throughout the United States, from museums to public parks.
