Local Publisher Releases Summer Camp Guide

Summer is a couple of months away, but we’re all starting to dream about it a little bit, right? There are numerous options in Northwest Arkansas for summer camps for kids that can potentially start funneling those dreams into fun summer plans!

  • The guide: Macaroni Kid, a Fayetteville Publisher, recently published a 2022 NWA Summer Camp Guide that includes over a dozen camps for kids ranging from 5 to 18 years old.
  • The camps: TheatreSquared will be hosting multiple theatre camps throughout the summer. The NWA Martial Arts Academy and the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks will be hosting day camps, and the Young Chefs Academy is offering multi-day camps weekly from May-August.

Eureka Springs Makes Top Spot In Best Mountain Town List

Southern Living recently released another article in its annual South’s Best series, and Eureka Springs was featured in one of the top spots on the list of The South’s Best Mountain Towns 2022. 

  • The list: The South’s Best series celebrates the most noteworthy places and communities, and Eureka Springs made the No. 5 spot in the mountain towns category. 
  • The town: Eureka Springs is a town with a population of just over 2,000 people, nestled in the Ozark Mountains near Beaver Lake. It’s known for its art culture and architecture, and its downtown is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Dance Company Presents Workshop And Performance At WAC

Walton Arts Center

This Thursday, Los Angeles-based Activist Dance Theatre company CONTRA-TIEMPO is coming to Northwest Arkansas for a week-long residency, which includes a free dance masterclass and a public dance performance at the Walton Arts Center.

  • A workshop: The masterclass will be rooted in CONTRA-TIEMPO’s unique dancing style which incorporates Salsa, Afro-Latinx social movement forms, and improvisation. The class is scheduled for Thursday, April 14 in Star Theater, and registration is required to participate. 
  • A show: The performance will be on Saturday, April 16 as a participatory experience featuring several dancers from NWA. The experience is called joyUS justUS and is based on personal truths about the power of hope, faith, and family.
