Watch 16 Candles With John Cusack At Walton Arts Center

Movie star John Cusack will host an evening of conversation and a screening of the cult classic film 16 Candles at Walton Arts Center on Sunday, Oct 29, at 7p.

  • In your eyes: One of Hollywood's most accomplished and respected actors, Cusack has starred in over 70 films over four decades, gaining critical acclaim and prestigious accolades for his dramatic and comedic roles and will likely forever hold the title for most iconic scene ever filmed with a boombox.
  • Cult classic: 16 Candles was one of Cusack's earliest film appearances and has become a classic portrayal of teen angst and 80's culture. After the film, attendees are invited to join a live conversation with John Cusack about his career and the making of his movies. 

Tickets range from $70-$120 and will go on sale this Friday, May 19, at 10a HERE.

Best Friends Pet Resource Center Attempts World Record

Best Friends Animal Society

In conjunction with National Rescue Dog Day, Best Friends Animal Society will attempt a world record for the Largest Dog Food Donation and invites the public to join the announcement ceremony this Saturday, May 20.

  • Good doge: Aiming to crush the current record of 51,000 lbs, Best Friends has partnered with Baby Doge Community, J.B. Hunt, and several dog food partners – Blue Buffalo, Nestle Purina, I and Love and You, and Trisha Yearwood Pet Collection.
  • Share the love: The food will be officially weighed on Friday at a J.B. Hunt facility, then be transferred to the Best Friends Pet Resource Center in Bentonville for the potential record announcement and distribution to local shelters. A large portion will be available to the public for free on Saturday from 1-4p!

Arkansas Track Sweeps SEC Outdoor Championship

Arkansas Track & Field and Cross Country

Continuing to dominate the season, Arkansas Track & Field ran away with the men's and women's 2023 SEC Outdoor Championship this past weekend in Baton Rouge.

  • Add it up: The men's team earned its third consecutive and 22nd overall SEC Outdoor title, finishing the meet with 149 total points over second-place LSU with 89 points. The women earned their 10th SEC Outdoor Title with 134 total points, beating out Florida's 112 points.
  • New number: Several records were shattered over the weekend. Arkansas's Jaydon Hibbert set a new Triple Jump collegiate record at 17.87m, and Britton Wilson set the 400m collegiate outdoor record at 49.13 seconds.

OZ Brands Promotes Rural Riding With Launch Of OZ Gravel

OZ Gravel

The outdoor enthusiasts behind OZ Brands have launched a new lifestyle brand called OZ Gravel, dedicated to promoting the rapidly growing gravel cycling scene in Northwest Arkansas.

  • Rock 'n Roll: The OZ Gravel website will provide a place for gravel riders to develop skillsets, connect with other riders, and find new routes through the curated list of beginner, intermediate, and advanced courses handpicked by local cycling aficionado Andy Chasteen.
  • Ride rural: Several mentioned routes are part of the Arkansas Rural Recreational Roads project, an effort to connect rural communities to the economic potential of outdoor recreation in our state.
