Happy weekend all! Here are some things going on over the next few days you might be interested in:

  • Two wheels: Bike Fest is this weekend! If you’re not already participating in the events, there will be so much to watch, so head out to Bentonville! 
  • Freedom Festival: The UofA and NWA Juneteenth Committee are hosting multiple events this weekend across NWA, culminating in Sunday’s Freedom Festival to celebrate emancipation.
  • Music: There will be a special Juneteenth Forest Concert Series concert tomorrow in the North Forest at Crystal Bridges.
  • Booths: Stop by and support your local farmers and makers this weekend at your local Farmers' Markets.
  • Mud pies: The whole family is invited to get messy at the 2nd annual Mess Fest on Saturday.
  • Break a leg: The Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre is in Fayetteville this weekend performing Much Ado About Nothing at the Global Campus Theater.
  • For a cause: Ride For a Healthier Tomorrow is going on right now, and it's a perfect excuse to be active this weekend.

New Ice Cream Joint Coming To MLK Jr Blvd In Fayetteville

Just what we need for this hot weather: a new ice cream joint! 

  • The knick of time: It will actually have burgers, too, so even better. The new shop is bright pink and called Icescreams and will open in July, according to its website and social media.
  • Yum: The building, formerly occupied by Flying Burger & Seafood, is located at 4220 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The Icescreams menu is not yet released, but you can expect burgers, tenders, wings, and desserts such as ice cream, milkshakes, and other goodness.

New Adventure Race Coming To NWA

There's going to be a new race on the Adventure Racing World Series (AWRS) calendar next year, and it will be in Northwest Arkansas.

  • Showcase: The ARWS is a multi-day, multi-discipline race that attracts the best racers from around the world and showcases the most beautiful parts of each participating country. The race in NWA will be called the Expedition Ozark race and will be yet another international stage for the Ozark region after the Cyclo-Cross Championships in Fayetteville.
  • On the way: The Expedition Ozark race will be a World Championship qualifier and one of only four races in the AWRS World Circuit held in North America. The NWA adventure will be April 3-8, 2023.
