Fayetteville Farm Returns To Feed Community

Cobblestone Farms in Fayetteville is back and regenerating after going dormant due to the pandemic. 

  • The production: Cobblestone Farms is a nonprofit with 25-acres. The farm has greenhouses, hoop houses, and farm fields for raising produce, livestock, and soon poultry. It runs primarily off donations and it donates a majority of what it produces to organizations such as the NWA Food Bank. 
  • The mission: Cobblestone Farms aims to fight hunger while also sustainably providing accessibility to fresh, local, and nutritionally dense food to all community members. Cobblestone Farms will be participating in NWA Gives next week. There will also be opportunity to volunteer at the farm this summer.

Local Cleaning Service Offers To Clean Homes For Cancer Patients

A local cleaning company has partnered with a nationwide program to offer free home cleanings to cancer patients in Bentonville. 

  • Local service: Busted Knuckles Cleaning is a veteran-owned, locally operated cleaning company in Bentonville and is working with Cleaning for a Reason to provide a service to people going through chemotherapy in Bentonville and a 10-mile surrounding radius. 
  • Awareness and partnerships: Cleaning For a Reason Week is a week-long charitable event that aims to build awareness of its mission to partner with residential cleaning companies and develop new funding. It will take place on April 18-24. Anyone can volunteer or donate to the cause.

NWA Modern Quilt Guild To Host A Quilt Show

The Northwest Arkansas Modern Quilt Guild is hosting their second quilt show next weekend in Rogers. 

  • On display: The quilt show will feature 130 quilts made by members of the guild, and challenge prompts given to members to incorporate into their work will be featured in several of the exhibits. The show will be at 919 S. Dixieland Rd in Rogers. 
  • Take it home: The quilts will be offered at auction with proceeds benefitting the guild. You can see the quilted projects and bid for them online. An improvisational style raffle quilt will also be given away on the afternoon of April 9.

Tourism Ticker Report Shows Rebound In Collections

Talk Business & Politics released the Jan-Dec 2021 Tourism Ticker report and it shows an overall rebound from pandemic disruption in Northwest Arkansas. 

  • Collections: The tourism taxes collected by Benton and Washington counties were up a combined $3.5m compared to 2020. The tourism tax is comprised of the hospitality tax, prepared food tax, and hotel tax collections. 
  • Worker's wages: The big four collected a combined ~$12.2m in tourism taxes. Hospitality wages in NWA were up as well — 5.1% compared with 2020.

New UCI Gravel World Series To Take Place In Fayetteville

The Union Cycliste Internationale recently announced a new Gravel World Series in which Fayetteville will represent the US yet again. 

  • World race: The series will start in April in the Philippines, travel to Australia, France, and Poland, then land in Fayetteville on Saturday, June 25. The event in Fayetteville will be called the Highlands Gravel Classic and include two courses
  • Ride of champions: The courses in Fayetteville will feature 95% gravel roads, the longer of the two serving as a World Championships qualifier for younger riders. The shorter course will be a World Championships qualifier for the older age categories.
