NWA High Schools Nationally Recognized

The latest U.S. News & World Report high school rankings, put two Arkansas high schools in the top 100 in the U.S. Several other high schools across the state ranked among the top 1,000 U.S. high schools.

Haas Hall Academy in Fayetteville topped the list at No. 1 in the state and ranked No. 50 in the country among high schools. Haas Hall Academy Bentonville was the No.2 high school in Arkansas and ranked No. 80 nationally.

Other schools that received attention - Bentonville High School and Rogers New Technology High School which were in the top five high schools in the state.

Mercy NWA Makes Top 100

For the third year in a row, Mercy Hospital in Rogers has found its name on the Fortune/IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals list.

Today is the last day to get on in on this weekend's Square 2 Square ride. In the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, last year's ride was held virtually. This year there are both virtual and in person options. Here's the skinny...

  • The virtual participation ride will be held May 2 - May 31. Riders can pick up their finisher medals at these locations.
  • The in person options will be held this Saturday, May 1. Riders have the option to start either from the south or the north and can do 15 or 30 mile routes.
  • Both rides are meant to get new riders involved and help them feel confident in taking on the Greenway on their own.

Weekly Covid Update

Arkansas Department of Health

On Tuesday, Governor Asa Hutchinson provided the state with his weekly Covid update that included a plea to see vaccines become more available to the harder to reach population, and effort for a 60% vaccine rate. 

For NWA, Benton County vaccination data shows in the last several weeks’ turnout for the first doses at clinics has gone from 1,230 to 576, and only continuing to drop. Benton and Washington County consistently rank as top counties in the state with most new cases.

Commercial Real Estate in NWA Remains Strong

The region's commercial real estate market remains robust amid a flat vacancy rate in 2020, according to Arvest Bank's most recent Skyline Report.

  • The numbers: The report which summarized commercial real estate in NWA for the second half of 2020 found that the overall vacancy rate was unchanged at 10.8% in 2020, but rose 10% in the second half of 2019.
  • Quote: "Commercial real estate in Northwest Arkansas has, to date, been able to remain strong throughout the last year,” said Kelly Carlson, senior VP with Arvest Bank Benton County.
