Bentonville West forced to Forfeit Playoff Game

Due to a Covid outbreak at Bentonville West they have been forced to forfeit today's Class 7A playoff game.

  • "After careful consideration for student and staff safety, leadership with the Bentonville Schools has cancelled this week’s playoff game. We’re disappointed but understand the decision. Fourteen students and coaches have tested positive for covid-19 this week, and multiple people have been quarantined. To move forward with Friday night’s game would undoubtedly place more individuals at risk.

Arkansas Mens Red-White Game

ICYMI - The Arkansas Razorbacks Men Basketball team had their annual Red-White game last night at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, AR

  • Students were the only spectators allowed in the game (maxing out at 4,000), but the game was live streamed on SEC Network

Talent Relocation Incentive

Northwest Arkansas Council is investing more than $1 million in relocation incentives for those in search of jobs in the region

  • Info - In efforts to fill a gap in the market and to fill the talent need in NWA, the NWA Council is supporting as many transplants as possible relocate to Northwest Arkansas and will even purchase them a bike on arrival

2nd Annual Holiday Market

Northwest Arkansas' Holiday Market is scheduled to kick off November 13 at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Rogers

XNA Business Travel Update

Business travel currently on hold as companies are waiting to see how Covid changes over the next several months

  • Info - Travel of all types has been slow to rebound in light of the pandemic the world is facing. Further, there has been limited amount of business travel through XNA, and business travel accounts for about 65% of all traffic through the regional airport

Grants Distributed to NWA

Three separate financial grants were approved and distributed to three separate cities in Northwest Arkansas to provide additional resources to the community

  • The Walton Family Foundation will give almost $1.5 million to help "pay for the design of projects in Bentonville, Rogers and Springdale. The foundation's design excellence program has previously contributed to projects such as the Rogers Historical Museum, which received $480,000 for design, and TheatreSquared in Fayetteville, which received more than $4 million." - NWA Democrat Gazette
  • $656,650 will go toward redesigning The Jones Center's 52-acre campus.
  • A grant will be provided to Bentonville to help complete the design for The Commons, a plaza in the Quilt of Parks, with the help of a $501,150 grant.
  • Finally, more than $336,000 will go toward designing a downtown alleyway project in Rogers.
