Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival

Put on your running shoes. Fayetteville is hosting the 34th annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival this weekend. 

  • Run for all: The Chile Pepper organization was formed in 1988 to support underfunded cross country programs and has grown to one of the largest cross country events in the nation bringing together over 80 college teams, 120 high school teams, and 750 individual runners. 
  • On your mark: The collegiate races begin Friday at 3:15p, followed by the open 1-mile race at 6:30p; Saturday will begin at 7:30a with the open 10k run, followed by the junior and high school divisions at 9:00a.

Washington Regional Receives Reaccreditation As NWA's Only Level II Trauma Center

Washington Regional Medical Center’s trauma team has achieved reaccreditation from the Arkansas Division of Health as a Level II Trauma Center, the only Level II Trauma Center in NW Arkansas. 

  • Level up: As a Level II Trauma Center, WRMC can initiate definitive care for injured patients and has surgeons on hand 24/7 to provide immediate coverage for general surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, radiology, and critical care. 
  • Staying busy: WRMC has held Level II Trauma Center status since 2012 and, last year alone, treated 1,141 patients with serious traumatic injuries.
