XNA to Offer Direct Flights to Austin for the First Time Ever

Live music here we come! Allegiant Air announced Tuesday that it would begin providing nonstop flights from Northwest Arkansas National Airport to Austin, Texas, with service beginning in July.

  • The is the first time XNA has offered a direct flight to the capital city of Texas, and select flights were on sale recently for a mere $49.
  • In 2019, NWA residents made over 9,000 trips to Austin. In years past, travelers would have connecting flights in Dallas or Houston or drive to Tulsa for a direct flight.
  • Allegiant's nonstop flights will occur on Mondays and Fridays, but numbers are likely to increase given the trip's popularity. Recognizing the growth and the opportunities that growth creates, Allegiant continues to increase its presence in Austin and at XNA. -Fare Flight NWA

Washington County's State-of-the-County address went live virtually on Monday - if you missed it, we've got you covered. Here are a few key takeaways from the event:

  1. The county judge’s budget was reduced by 1% from 2019.
  2. Washington County saw a 24% increase in new construction from 2019.
  3. The Emergency Management department coordinated the disbursement of over 100,000 units of PPE in response to COVID-19.
  4. The grants department received more than $10 million in grants

County Judge Joseph Wood mentioned that the county would prioritize improving leadership in services by focusing on infrastructure, public safety, and employee training in 2021. “We’re one of the fastest-growing regions in the United States. Did Someone Say... Concert Series... in 2021?

City of Rogers; Railyard Park

You heard right. If you're someone who has a concert-sized hole in your heart after a year of quarantine, you're not alone. The City of Rogers has recently announced that the under-construction Butterfield Stage at Railyard Park is gearing up for the 2021 Concert Series.

  • If you're looking to put in your two cents about who you want to see perform at the stage, fill out this form.
  • Anna Watson, the city's arts and culture coordinator, said the tentative plan for Butterfield Stage at Railyard Park is to have several concerts from late April through October. Some will be free while some will require paid tickets, she said. - NWA Democrat-Gazette
  • The City of Rogers entered a one-year, $150,000 contract with Crowne Group in Fayetteville for event marketing and programming for the new stage. Brian Crowne of Crowne Group also owns George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville and is the VP of Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion in Rogers.
  • "This would be a turn-key style contract. We feel very confident in Brian's unique ability to build a great music experience from top to bottom," Watson said. - NWA Democrat Gazette
