Northwest Arkansas Community College

The Walton Family Foundation recently granted the LIFE Program at Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) $432,883 to grow the program’s efforts.

  • New paths: LIFE is a near-peer mentorship program that aims to empower students while presenting them with quality higher educational opportunities and creating “an atmosphere of acceptance and cultural celebration.”
  • Side by side: The target group of LIFE is Latino and Hispanic students, but the program will help any high school student. 90% of the students LIFE serves are first-generation in college, and they’re all mentored by “near-peers,” young NWACC college students who are relatable and relevant.
