$240m Of NWA's Medicare Expenses Spent Outside Of Region

According to the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement's analysis of Northwest Arkansas in 2019, nearly $240m of the $1.1b spent on Medicare enrollee's healthcare went towards services provided outside of the region.

  • Finding specialists: Considering cardiology procedures performed on Medicare-enrolled residents, 11% sought care outside of Northwest Arkansas. Specifically, 14% of coronary artery bypass grafting surgeries and 20% of heart valve replacement surgeries occurred outside the region.
  • Keeping pace: These findings raise concerns about the supply and demand for healthcare providers in Northwest Arkansas. As the population grows, our health sector has a unique opportunity to expand and innovate.

House Show Music Festival Coming To Bentonville This April

City Sessions

Music and hospitality will collide during City Sessions' 4th annual Home Sweet Home Music Festival in Downtown Bentonville on April 28-29.

Adventure Racing World Series Finds A New Home In NWA

The Adventure Racing World Series has been purchased from the Australian-based Geocentric Outdoors by current CEO Heidi Muller, who plans to move the organization's headquarters to Bentonville.

  • Extreme sports: Adventure races combine disciplines like trekking, rock climbing, paddling, mountain biking, and orienteering as teams traverse huge distances over days-long races—a perfect sport for the rugged Ozarks.
  • Natural State: Three private investors from NWA aided the purchase, two of which, Jason Wilford and Philip Sigsworth, are board members of Ozark Outdoor Foundation, which hosts Expedition Ozark, a 5-day, 390mi adventure race including biking, trekking, and paddling.
