Cypress Cold Storage Breaks Ground On New Facility In Springdale

Cypress Cold Storage recently broke ground on a 207,285 sqft storage facility in Springdale, adding to the region's warehouse capacity for the food and beverage industry.

  • Crank up the AC: The facility will feature an insulated metal panel exterior, an 8,450 sqft office space, 21 dock positions, and 170,000 sqft of temperature-controlled space for frozen and refrigerated goods.
  • Cool jobs: Cyprus Cold Storage is expected to bring 50 new jobs to the region by the time the project is completed in Spring 2024, contributing to Northwest Arkansas's reputation as a distribution and transportation industry leader.

U of A School of Art To Host Grand Opening Of Studio And Design Center

The University of Arkansas's School of Art will host its Grand Opening of the new Studio and Design Center in the Windgate Art and Design District, on Saturday, May 6, from 10a-3p.

  • Creative hub: Made possible by over $40m in donations from the Windgate Charitable Support Foundation, the state-of-the-art, 154,000 sq-ft center is equipped to provide students a wide range of creative outlets through studio art programs, graphic design programs, and the new graduate Master of Design degree.
  • Grand opening: On May 6, guests are invited to tour the facility, view student art exhibitions, and purchase select student art. ARTsaga's will have a free citra-hopped brewed iced coffee while supplies last, and free Pedal Pops will be given to the first 100 guests.

Bentonville's First Friday Is Pet-A-Palooza

Bentonville's May First Friday theme is Pet-A-Palooza, a celebration of our furry friends on Friday, May 5, from 11a-9p on the Bentonville Square.

  • Bring in the pets: All things pet related, the event will have a petting zoo, a pet parade and adoption event, pony rides, the Bentonville Pets Talent Show, and more! Kids can even bring their favorite stuffed animals to get a check-up at the Best Friends' Stuffy Clinic.
  • Sing us a song: Come for lunch at 11a and join Yoga Story for a free class at noon. Heartland Dueling Pianos will take the mainstage at 7:30p, inviting song requests from the audience in this interactive rock out that you'll want to dance and sing along with!

Join the Hispanic Women's Organization of Arkansas for the Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival at the Jones Center in Springdale on Saturday, May 6, from 12-7p.

  • Fiesta de la victoria: Cinco de Mayo commemorates the historical Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. The festival will include entertainment, live music, delicious food, dance, a fashion show, and much more!
  • For a great cause: All proceeds generated from the festival go towards the HWOA Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance and guidance for students and their families through the process of pursuing higher education.
