Advanced Technology Companies Choosing To Land in Arkansas

With drone deliveries, self-driving vehicles, and electric modes of transportation, Northwest Arkansas is captaining the voyage of the future, acting as a hub for its realization

  • By sky: Walmart has partnered with Drone Up and Zipline for drone deliveries in NWA, and operations are up and running in select areas. Arkansas is ripe for the advancement of technologies and international companies are becoming aware of it. 
  • Friendly: Envirotech Vehicles, a zero-emission electric vehicle manufacturing company headquartered in California, has announced it will open its first U.S.-based manufacturing facility in Arkansas. The specific location and more information are to be announced at a later date.

Happy weekend! Here are some ideas on how to spend it:

  • 900-mile journey: Go experience an artist's journey along the Trail of Tears at the Momentary this weekend.
  • Create: Make blankets and new friends as part of Project Linus at Grace United Methodist Church tomorrow.
  • Swing: Support Razorback Baseball today at their first game of the season, a home game against Illinois State.
  • Rights: Listen and learn from a Freedom Rider at Crystal Bridges on Sunday.
  • Ice sport: Give curling a try at the Jones Center, 3-4:45p every Sunday.
  • Hit it: Razorback Softball will be happening at Bogle park for the Razorback Invitational this afternoon.
  • Hum along: Lots of music is filling the NWA streets this weekend. Take a look and maybe catch a gig!

Funds To Go To Non-Profit Applicants

Northwest Arkansas non-profits have some assistance coming their way from the United Way of NWA.

  • Stable: The social services organization works with partners to aid communities in achieving their potential through education, income stability, and healthy lives. United Way of NWA has $500k from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s emergency food and shelter program for local counties. 
  • Distribute: The money is meant to go to people who need it. Out of the $500k, $250k is set aside for Benton County, $235k for Washington County, and ~$28k for Carroll County. Non-profits can apply for the funds by Feb. 25.

Walmart Releases Q4, FY22 Earnings

Walmart released its Q4 and FY22 earnings, revealing ups and downs as well as plans for FY23. 

  • The numbers: The total revenue for Walmart’s Q4 FY22 was $152.9b, up 0.5%. Comp sales grew 5.6% in Q4 with market share gains in grocery. eCommerce sales grew 1% in the U.S., 70% on a two-year stack. International net sales decreased 22.6%, or $7.9b.
  • Marketplace: The guides for FY23 are in line with growth outlined last February, and share repurchases of at least $10b are planned for this next fiscal year.
