Weekend Roundup

Abbie Kathol

There's plenty going on in Northwest Arkansas, pretty much always. Here's a list of a few things happening this weekend:

  • Up, up and away: The 2nd Annual SOAR NWA is back -- a hot air balloon festival at the Drake Field airport is this Saturday.
  • Bicycle ride: Go support the cyclists in the Joe Martin Stage Race sweeping the streets of Fayetteville.
  • At the drive-In: Free guy and Jungle Cruise are showing this weekend at the 112 drive-in.
  • Music city: Practically anywhere you go, really, music is in the streets with Music Festival Weekend.
  • And a show: American Mariachi, a music-filled comedy, is at Theatre Squared through Sunday.
  • For you country-lovin' folks: It's not too late to see Luke Bryan at the AMP tonight at 7p.
  • Fair fun: The Washington County Fair is ready for you. The last day is tomorrow, so go have some fun!
  • Midnight art: You're invited to Crystal Bridges' Art Night Out for a night of celebration and art-making.

Have fun this weekend, and see you Monday!

The Beach at Bentonville

NWA Daily

Modern artists and their art exhibits are constantly expanding the definition of what art is and how it can be displayed. The Momentary in Bentonville is in the lineup for the first U.S. showings of a Golden Lion Award winning installation of art.

  • The space between: Sun & Sea is an indoor beach opera by an all-female creative team who focus on how “theater, music, and the visual arts intertwine.”
  • Get in on it: The Momentary will be transforming the interior Tower space, importing 25 tons of sand and inviting 13 vocalists to put on the 60 minute show Oct 6-9. Tickets are available to museum members today and nonmembers starting Monday.

Green Cars

NWA Daily

Northwest Arkansas is getting serious about the goal for 50% of new U.S. vehicles to be electric by 2030.

  • Environment friends: Rogers-based solar equipment provider Shine Solar made an agreement with Envirotech Vehicles Inc. allowing Shine Solar to start promoting and selling Envirotech’s zero emission electric vehicles.
  • To infinity and beyond: With Shine Solar already providing financially and environmentally sustainable alternatives to power, the agreement with Envirotech Vehicles Inc. will tangibly expand the production of green energy in the U.S.
