Chasing Fireflies

NWA Daily

Go ahead and mark your calendars for July 16 for one of Northwest Arkansas's most anticipated mid-summer events - the Firefly Fling Festival.

  • Anticipation: Thousands of families from across the area come to the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks and don the costumes of their favorite fairy or woodland-themed characters each year as they attend the Firefly Fling Festival.
  • Fun and games: Before the sun goes down, kids will be able to enjoy fairy house building, nature stations, crafts, and more. After dark, the whole family can enjoy live music on the Great Lawn and some great food from the food trucks in attendance.

NWA Daily

The Hogs are headed to the College World Series for the 11th time in school history after a dramatic 4-3 win over North Carolina yesterday afternoon.

  • Made it: The second game of the NCAA Chapel Hill Super Regional was an all-day affair with a pair of lengthy lightning delays, but it was all worth it in the end when the Hogs muscled a walk-off single win.
  • On our way: With one out and runners on the corners in the bottom of the ninth, Brady Slavens came through clutch with a walk-off RBI single. The College World Series will be in Omaha, Nebraska, June 16-27.
