The Ozark National Forests forest crew are working with the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-Forestry Division to contain a wildfire near Mountainburg and the community of Locke

  • Info - The human created fire has grown in size burning over 41 acres. The fire was started over the weekend by a hunters camp near the town of Mountainburg
  • Due to the steep terrain, forest fire fighters are required to use man-made obstacles to restrict the fire's path

Springdale Expanding Zoning Options

City of Springdale want to expand the 'Special zoning' rules downtown to include the boarding neighborhoods

  • Info - "The city wants residential areas north of downtown by Mill Street and south of downtown along South Powell Street included in the downtown form-based code. The code allows flexibility in design with all structures helping to complete the vision of downtown Spring-dale as a livable, walkable, urban community, explained Austin Thomas, an assistant planner for the city." - NWA Democrat Gazette

Crystal Bridges Museum Receives $17.5m Gift

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art last week received a $17.5 million gift from the Windgate Foundation

  • Info - The purpose of the gift is to "advance the field of American craft" and support a "dedicated position, research, programmatic support, and will provide funding to acquire craft objects for the museum’s permanent collection". - FayettevilleFlyer
  • The grant builds upon the scheduled Crafting America Exhibit which opens Feb. 6, 2021 and runs through end of May, 2021. It features over 100 works in ceramics, fiber, wood, metal, glass, and other materials from artists such as Ruth Asawa, Peter Voulkos, Jeffrey Gibson, Sonya Clark, and more. - CBMAA

Springdale Walmart Temporary Closes

The Walmart Supercenter on Pleasant Street in Springdale will temporarily close, according to a Walmart spokesperson.

  • Info - The Supercenter will close at 2p on Sunday, November 15 and reopen Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7a for a cleaning and sanitization of the building
  • The company released the following statement:

“Everything we’re doing is for the well-being of our associates and customers, and in consideration of guidance by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and health experts. When the store reopens Tuesday morning, we will continue conducting associate health screens and temperature checks, and all associates will continue to be provided with facemasks and gloves.

“These protocols are in addition to the extensive measures we’ve put in place during the pandemic to help protect our associates and customers, including installing sneeze guards at registers, customer metering and social distancing measures and enacting an emergency leave policy for associates who are unable or uncomfortable coming to work. Additionally, through the help of our health ambassadors, we will continue requiring customers to wear protective facial coverings while inside the building."

“We will continue working closely with elected and local health officials, adjusting how we serve the community while also keeping the health and safety of our customers and associates in mind.”
