AcreMaps is looking for a Data Science Developer to join and help build the growing data science team that supports our AcreTrader platform. The Data Science Developer will work with data scientists, data engineers, analysts, and software engineers to create innovative and impactful data products for AcreMaps. This role will implement cutting-edge machine learning methods with expansive datasets to discover, generate, validate, and integrate actionable land information into scalable solutions for AcreMaps.

The ideal candidate will be able write elegant Python code for varied data science projects. The person in this role will continuously develop new skills and learn new technologies to adapt to changing trends and frameworks. In addition, the candidate will be a keen problem solver, passionate about Big Data technologies, analytics, and data science. The candidate will be comfortable ramping up quickly to build real-world, scalable machine learning pipelines for both prototyping and deploying new products in AcreMaps. Hiring the right person for this role is important to our team because they will be an integral part of the creation and continuous improvement of our AcreMaps platform.

Core Responsibilities: 

• Communicate and collaborate with the data science team and internal stakeholders
• Develop, validate, and scale machine learning pipelines for the AcreMaps team
• Work at the interface of data science and software engineering to deliver analysis at scale
• Write efficient, maintainable code for prototyping and deployment
• Develop cutting-edge algorithms to leverage our data into valuable insights
• Contribute to planning, analysis, workflow processing, and ideation of future data products
• Play a key role in product development and team meetings

Key Competencies/Requirements: 

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, data analytics, engineering, or related field
• 3+ years experience with Python
• Experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS
• Experience with Git
• Knowledge of statistics and machine learning 
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform or similar cloud computing platforms
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to thrive in a startup environment
• Transparency and openness to feedback
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is a precondition to employment at AcreTrader

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Graduate degree in a relevant field
• Experience with Google Earth Engine
• Experience with geospatial and imagery data
• Experience with Docker
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Comfort working an Agile environment
