Position: Head of Development

Reports to: CEO

Team: Development

Status: Full-time

Position Overview

The Head of Development is responsible for leading and equipping the Development team to advance the mission and vision of Lifewater International to all new and existing donors. The Head of Development will oversee the Donor Relations and Marketing teams and provide strategic guidance in communicating the Lifewater story.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership in all aspects of Lifewater development activities, including marketing and donor relations and planned giving
• Build a culture of collaboration
• Establish a comprehensive development plan and specific objectives for the organization and team members, setting both yearly and longer-term goals
• Oversee the planning and implementation of a comprehensive marketing plan
• Oversee the collection, distribution, and analysis of statistical data to drive performance
• Coach team members to grow professionally and personally through their work and developmental opportunities
• Assist team to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward planned giving opportunities
• Work closely with the CEO and serve on the senior leadership team
• Other duties as assigned

Work Experience and Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Adherence to Lifewater’s statement of faith
• Passion for Lifewater’s mission of serving vulnerable communities and children
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• 10+ years of leadership experience, and experience hiring and developing a team
• 8+ years’ experience in sales/fundraising and marketing efforts for an organization
• 5+ years working in a non-profit setting, with a global focus
• The ability to build a comprehensive strategic plan in line with the organization’s goals and efforts
• Exceptional public speaking, written communication, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to travel internationally and/or domestically multiple times per year
• Legally eligible to work in the United States; no sponsorship will be provided

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with project management software, such as Asana
• Familiarity with Salesforce

Physical Qualifications

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time
