$10m Grant Received To Establish Energy Research Center At U of A

A team of researchers has received $10.3m in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Energy to establish an Energy Frontier Research Center at the U of A, the first of its kind in Arkansas. 

  • The team's conductor: Led by electrical engineering professor, Shui-Qing “Fisher” Yu, the team will found the Center for Manipulation of Atomic Ordering for Manufacturing Semiconductors, a center dedicated to investigating the formation of atomic orders in semiconductor alloys and their effects on various physical properties. 
  • Say it less smart: The research program will enable the development of a more reliable, cost-effective, environmentally conscious method of manufacturing semiconductors, the essential material used in many electronic devices.
