The Tulsa Zoo broke ground on The Oxley Family Elephant Experience and Elephant Preserve, one of the largest elephant facilities in North America, in June. 

• Free range: The build out will include ten additional acres of preserve yard to give the elephants space to roam, while also featuring natural elements like trees, streams and natural ponds to give them a more authentic living experience in captivity. 
• One big house: The elephant barn will house a full kitchen so keepers can prepare meals for the entire herd. As well as, a natural substrate floor, rain control system and wet stalls for the three elephants currently living there - though they are looking to welcome more roommates in the future.
