Canoe For Community

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

Starting today until Nov. 19 Crystal Bridges is inviting you to watch and learn about the Marshallese culture in Northwest Arkansas.

  • Carving: A master boat builder and his team will transform a tree into a water-ready canoe, and you're invited to witness. The carvers will be available each Friday from 4-5p until the vessel is finished to talk about the building process.
  • Celebrating culture: There will be opening and closing ceremonies to mark the beginning and end of the project that include Marshallese dance and musical performances led by local community leaders. There is no registration required.
