As a part of the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) and the Recreational Trails Program (RTP), the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT) chose two projects in Northwest Arkansas that focus on alternative transportation to receive project funds.
- Projects: Fayetteville was awarded $500,000 to go toward the Clabber Creek Trail tunnel that will run under Hwy 112, and Springdale was awarded $100,000 for the 3rd phase of the Devil’s Trail.
- Numbers: In sum, there were a total of 89 applications for TAP funds, and 48 for RTP funds. 59 projects were chosen for improvements or extensions totaling $11.5m investment in alternative infrastructure.
