Fayetteville Earns “Tree City USA” Designation For 28th Year

NWA Daily

The Arbor Day Foundation has named Fayetteville a Tree City USA for the 28th year in a row, recognizing the city's commitment to urban forest management.

  • Tree-mendous work: The tall requirements for the award include having a tree board, a tree care ordinance, a minimum annual forestry budget of $2 per capita, and holding an annual Arbor Day observance, which Fayetteville celebrates each October by giving away thousands of trees.
  • Counting the rings: Fayetteville isn't the only Northwest Arkansas city with a green thumb. Eureka Springs has earned the Tree City USA for an impressive 40 years running.
