Beau Ryall, Arkansas Hospital Association - Hospitalizations have decreased; however, hospitalizations reached their highest levels recently. Northeast and Central Arkansas are seeing the most increase. Hospital bed capacity is tight, but that’s not the issue. The issue is the number of medical workers available to staff the beds. 10 percent of occupied beds have COVID Patients 26 percent of occupied ICU beds have COVID Patients 31 percent of ventilators are in use by COVID patients There isn’t a shortage in PPE or testing supplies. What we are seeing is a shortage in healthcare workers, caused by fatigue, competition from other states, increasing costs, and community exposure. |
