History Is Being Recognized In Fayetteville

Northwest Arkansas Mall

History is ripe in Northwest Arkansas. Churches are turning more than centuries old, and the time is rolling around to open certain time capsules.

  • Foundations: The St. James United Methodist Church congregation is celebrating the church’s 160th birthday. The church has been a small, family church since 1861 and has been influential in the integration of the community.
  • Back in time: In 1997 a time capsule was buried during a major renovation of the Northwest Arkansas Mall, and it is scheduled to be opened this March. The capsule presumably has items from numerous stores in the mall at the time of burial, but we’ll just have to see.
