The rapid growth of Northwest Arkansas has contributed to an increased urban stormwater runoff, leading to land loss through erosion and sedimentation of water sources. 

• Changing course: Organizations in the area have implemented 12 best management practices, such as rain gardens and porous pavements, to reduce the effects of runoff. 
• Working together: Counties are utilizing public education, outreach, and projects to raise awareness about the runoff issue and encourage preventive measures that can be taken before erosion leads to expensive damage.
