Local Produce Offers Better Health For Patients

Emily McArthur

Community Clinic in Northwest Arkansas is partnering with the NWA Food Conservatory to bring fresh, locally-sourced fruits and vegetables to patients.

  • At the doctor's: The partnership was formed to encourage and help patients develop healthier habits and treat chronic diseases like diabetes and obesity. The clinic and conservatory are doing this through a weekly distribution of low-cost produce right at the doctor's office.
  • Healthier generation: The Community Clinic is available to everyone who needs it and prides itself on working with marginalized communities and families. By providing local healthy food options to its patients, the clinic is not only fostering healthier patients but potentially building a new generation of nutrition security as well.
