NWA Daily

Thanks to all you consumers eating out and shopping in Northwest Arkansas, the sales tax revenue in NWA’s four largest cities is up beyond levels a year ago in 2020 and pre-pandemic.

  • Numbers: Reflecting sales in June, Bentonville's sales tax revenue was up 36.7% from the same period last year. Rogers' was up 18%, Springdale's 12.81%, and Fayetteville's 4.78%.
  • Adaptation: The growth and increase in tax revenue is due primarily to restaurants thriving in take-out production in some areas, as well as simply expanding outside in others. Population growth, online shopping and outdoor events have kept our economy alive, too.
