A recent report from Attom Data Solutions revealed that the number of mortgages secured by residential properties in the first three months of 2022 in Northwest Arkansas was down 27.6% from the first quarter of 2021. 

• Market flux: In the first three months of this year, there were 5,160 residential mortgages in NWA. And according to Attom's analysis, 2,565 NWA owners refinanced a mortgage in the first quarter of this year, which is down 41% from last year's all-time high of 4,362. 
• Zoom out: The data shows a national downtrend in refinances and mortgages on residential properties, due in large part to a drop in equity and purchase activity. All of this is no surprise with mortgage rates on the rise.
