New Updates At Siloam Springs Kayak Park Will Reduce Overcrowding

Arkansas Outside

Changes are coming to the Siloam Springs Kayak Park as the City of Siloam Springs takes a more active role in reducing overcrowding and addressing safety concerns.

  • Too much fun: The park, designed to be a regional destination for whitewater enthusiasts, has quickly expanded to include families, swimmers, and tubers, causing overcrowding and damage to the parking facilities, streambanks, and neighboring properties. Contractors just wrapped up $50,000 worth of repairs to the streambanks at the park due to damage from heavy foot traffic.
  • Keeping it cool: Beginning May 19, the conservation non-profit Illinois River Watershed Partnership will lease the park each weekend during the season to manage parking, clean facilities, and ensure visitor safety. Visitors will be charged $10 per car for entry Friday-Sunday, and cars parked illegally along Fisher Ford Rd will be towed.
