In a partnership, Ozark Electric Cooperative and Springdale Public Schools “flipped the switch” on a new solar and battery storage facility this week.

  • Storing energy: The project includes 6.9 MW of battery storage and a 2.375-megawatt solar array of more than 7,000 panels on 15 acres near Sonora Middle School in Springdale.
  • Saving costs: The combination of solar generation and battery storage will result in significant savings for the school district, and the community can use the stored battery power to reduce wholesale demand charges and control costs. This project is one of many local projects proving how innovation and collaboration can benefit the region.
