Tipping Point for Vaccine Demand

Governor Asa Hutchinson said Tuesday (4/20) state officials are now pointing their efforts towards COVID-19 vaccine demand to avoid the “jeopardy” of cases rising again later this year. Numbers are rising slightly, and the governor called this a “worrisome point” that will be monitored from here on out.

  • What does this mean? State officials want to continue to boost vaccine efforts as the state continues to fall short of the national average. Arkansas reported that 27.5% of those age 18+ were fully vaccinated, compared with 33% nationwide. Another 14.2% of the 18+ population in Arkansas has had their first round of shots, compared to an additional 50.7% nationwide.

  • Quote: “Now is the time to vaccinate. We have to get ahead of this. If we don’t, we can and will have significant transmission of new cases here,” said Arkansas Secretary of Health Dr. Jose Romero.

  • NWA Vaccination Clinics: As vaccines become more readily available, there are several locations in the area offering opportunities to be vaccinated - they can be found HERE.
