Turpentine Creek Wildlife Celebrates Approval Of Big Cat Safety Act

Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge

Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs is celebrating the U.S. Senate approval of the Big Cat Public Safety Act and plans to take in new cats when able.

  • Purrfect: The passing of this legislation would make it illegal for individuals to own big cats and put an end to pay-for-play and cub-petting operations, which is the main driver for the overbreeding of exotic cats.
  • Forever home: Turpentine Creek exists to provide lifetime refuge for abused and neglected “Big Cats” with an emphasis on tigers, lions, leopards, and cougars; though, they are also home to several bears, bobcats, and even a hyena named Rambo.
