Heartland Forward recently ranked the University of Arkansas 69th out of 166 research universities that creates research and integrates it into the private sector.

• Leading the way: The study claims that the U.S. research university is one of the most important knowledge assets for economic development, and a blueprint for much of the world. The U of A’s ranking reflects its progress in technology transfer, commercialization activities, and general contribution to the economic growth of the state. 
• Strongest areas: The report measured formal and informal tech transfer in five areas, though the U of A ranked particularly well in “Licenses and Options” and “Startups Formed.” The university was 23rd and 44th in the normalized index value for the aforementioned categories.
