Researchers at the University of Arkansas are testing the use of Arkansas-grown aromatic rice to expand the flavor profiles of non-alcoholic beer in response to the growing demand in the "near-beer" category.

  • Land o' rice: In 2021, the global non-alcoholic beer market was worth $16b and is forecasted to reach more than $23b by 2025. A positive outcome from this study could mean significant opportunities for Arkansas as the #1 rice producer in the nation.
  • Nice rice: The study will also explore the health benefits of non-alcoholic beer and evaluate how the qualities of rice affect beer brewing.
