UA Associate Professor Announced GRAMMY Educator Finalist

Making it Big-Time: Jeffrey Allen Murdock, an associate professor of music education at the U of A, has been announced as one of 10 finalists in the country for the 2021 GRAMMY Music Educator Award.

  • The award recognizes current educators who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the area of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools. The winner will receive a $10,000 award and matching grant for their school’s music program. The nine additional finalists will receive $1,000 and matching grants.
  • According to the U of A, Murdock is known internationally as a conductor, clinician, and adjudicator. He currently serves as associate director of choral activities and associate professor of music education at the U of A.
  • “There are so many deserving music educators in this country who are in the trenches doing this work. I’m honored to have been chosen from among them," said Murdock. -UA

The Music Educator Award recipient will be announced during GRAMMY Week in March 2021. The 63rd annual GRAMMY Awards ceremony will take place on March 14, 2021.
